Bedrettin Yıldızeli is a thoracic surgeon at Memorial Göztepe Hospital and a professor of thoracic surgery at Marmara University School of Medicine, where he chaired the department from 2018 to 2024. He graduated from Marmara University in 1993 and completed his thoracic surgery residency there (1995–2000), followed by several clinical fellowships at Marie Lannelongue Hospital in Paris in thoracic-vascular surgery and lung and heart-lung transplantation, and observerships at UC San Diego's pulmonary endarterectomy programme and Toronto General Hospital in 2013. He is one of the surgeons who established pulmonary endarterectomy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension in Türkiye, and he contributes to European multicentre studies on pulmonary artery sarcoma and pulmonary metastasectomy.
