Engin Çakar heads the Stroke and Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center within the Memorial group and practises at both Memorial Şişli and Memorial Göztepe hospitals. He graduated from the GATA Faculty of Medicine in 1999, completed physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty training at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital (2002–2005), took a master's degree in electrodiagnostic neurology at Marmara University (2007–2010) and qualified in algology in 2011. He received the associate professorship in 2011 and the professorship in 2016, and also holds an academic post in physiotherapy and rehabilitation at Üsküdar University. His clinical focus is early-stage and robotic rehabilitation after stroke and traumatic brain injury.
