Hepatobiliary, pancreatic and transplant surgeon. He graduated from Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine in 1986 and completed general surgery training there in 1991, remaining on the faculty until 2010 and directing the university's Organ Transplantation Training, Research and Application Centre in Erzurum from 2003 to 2010. He trained abroad at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York (1998-2000) and as a visiting fellow in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (1999-2000). Since 2010 he has led organ transplantation at Memorial Ataşehir, and since 2018 has chaired the organ transplant centre at Memorial Bahçelievler. He sits on the Turkish Ministry of Health kidney transplantation scientific board and was second president of the Turkish Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery Association.
