Nezih Onur Ermerak is a thoracic surgeon at Memorial Göztepe Hospital, where he has worked since 2025. He graduated from Yeditepe University School of Medicine (2002–2007) and completed his thoracic surgery training at Marmara University School of Medicine (2009–2015), with a clinical fellowship at Universitätsspital Bern (2011–2012) and subspecialty periods at Washington University in St. Louis (2019–2020) and Dalhousie University (2020–2022). At Marmara he worked in the minimally invasive pectus and chest wall deformity programme and in the pulmonary endarterectomy programme for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, and he has published on modifications of the Nuss procedure, compressive bracing for pectus carinatum and uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. He also served in Kilis State Hospital (2015–2017) during the period of cross-border war-surgery casualties.
