Sabahattin Gündüz was born in İskenderun in 1981 and graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, in 2005. He completed his cardiology residency at Kartal Koşuyolu High Specialty Training and Research Hospital (2005–2009), where he later worked as a cardiologist and received the Turkish associate professor title in 2017; he was appointed professor at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine in 2022. He worked at VM Medical Park Pendik Hospital from 2018 to 2025 and joined Memorial Göztepe Hospital in 2025. His research output is concentrated on prosthetic heart valve thrombosis and its treatment, including the low-dose slow-infusion and ultraslow thrombolytic regimens studied at Koşuyolu, and on cardiac imaging of prosthetic valve dysfunction.
