Prof. Dr. Sema Demirçin heads the Department of Forensic Medicine at Akdeniz University Hospital. She completed her forensic medicine specialisation at Ege University Faculty of Medicine (1995), with a thesis on forensic biology methods for sperm DNA isolation, ABO grouping and Oppitz dye. Her clinical and research interests include forensic autopsy and death investigation, forensic genetics (Y-SNP analysis), forensic anthropology and the medical assessment of domestic and gender-based violence.
