Akın Yıldız is a nuclear medicine physician at Memorial Göztepe Hospital who also works with the hospital's oncology centre. He graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 1987, completed nuclear medicine residency at Akdeniz University (1988–1991) and subsequently a second residency in radiology at Dokuz Eylül University (1993–1997), so he is trained in both disciplines. He was a faculty member in nuclear medicine at Akdeniz University from 1998 to 2011 and headed that department in his final years there, then practised in Antalya and at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital before moving to Memorial Göztepe. His work centres on oncologic PET/CT imaging and radionuclide therapy.
