Halil İbrahim Canter is a professor of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He graduated from the English-language programme of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and completed his residency in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at the same university in 2003. He trained in craniofacial surgery as a clinical fellow at the Providence Hospital Craniofacial Institute in Michigan, USA, in 2007, and completed a PhD in advanced plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences in 2008. He holds a professorship in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at İstinye University and practises at Liv Hospital Vadistanbul. His clinical and research work covers craniofacial and orthognathic surgery, cleft lip and palate repair, hand surgery, and breast and facial aesthetic surgery; his published research includes three-dimensional medical modelling for orthognathic planning, facial soft-tissue measurement methods, and skin tissue generation from adipose-derived stem cells. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, and the Turkish Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Association.
