Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Yılmaz is one of Türkiye's most senior ophthalmologists, with a career spanning more than four decades. A 1973 graduate of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, he completed his ophthalmology training at Hacettepe and went on to spend six years (1978-1984) as Deputy Chief at the Duisburg Academic Hospital of the University of Düsseldorf in Germany. Returning to Türkiye, he led the Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital and in 1996 founded Türkiye's first private eye hospital (Dünya Göz). He now consults at Liv Hospital Vadistanbul, with clinical interests in cataract, refractive (LASIK/SMILE), corneal and vitreoretinal surgery.
