Özgür Kılıçkesmez graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completed his radiology residency at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital in 2001. He took six months of neuroangiography training in the neuroradiology division at Cerrahpaşa in 2010, and in 2012–2013 worked in London as a clinical fellow in interventional radiology and interventional oncology at Guy's and St Thomas' and King's College Hospital. He led the interventional radiology department at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital from 2012 to 2020, then founded the radiology and interventional neuroradiology service at İstanbul Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital in 2020. He holds Turkish Radiology and Turkish Interventional Radiology board certificates and the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) diploma, and now heads interventional radiology and neuroradiology at Memorial Göztepe Hospital.
